To define a new event log resource to monitor, select File / New Resource / Event Log from the file menu. This will open the event log resource window.
Define the machine name you wish to monitor the event log on, then pick the password from the password manager list for the machine you're using. If you have not yet set a password for the machine you're monitoring, please see the password manager section for more information. Pick which log file you wish to monitor, and set the interval with which you want to monitor.
Double click on the "Include | All Event Types" to adjust the existing event filter. You can also add your own or remove existing filters. Click "OK" when you're done editing the filter rule.
On the bottom of the event log resource window is a "Test" button. This will cause Overseer to try contacting the resource to verify that it was defined properly and that it can be reached.
Click on the "Custom Text" icon on the right hand side to bring up additional configuration options for the messages sent when an error occurs.
Click on the "General" icon on the right hand side to bring up additional configuration options for the new service resource.
In this section, you can define the name of the resource (or how the Overseer console will display it as), which group it resides in, and any comments that you might specify for it.
Click on the "Notifications" icon on the right hand side to bring up additional configuration options for the service resource.
The "Notifications" section allows you to enable or disable resources which should be alerted should the resource go down.
