To define a new HTTP resource to monitor, select File / New Resource / HTTP from the file menu. This will open the HTTP resource window.
Define the HTTP URL you wish to monitor.
If you are defining a site that requires authentication, you can use the drop down list to pick the appropriate password if you have already defined it. Please see the section covering the password manager if you need help setting up a new resource password.
On the bottom of the HTTP resource window is a "Test" button. This will cause Overseer to try contacting the resource to verify that it was defined properly and that it can be reached.
Click on the "General" icon on the right hand side to bring up additional configuration options for the HTTP resource.
In this section, you can define the name of the resource (or how the Overseer console will display it as), which group it resides in, and any comments that you might specify for it.
Click on the "Monitoring"icon on the right hand side to bring up additional configuration options for the HTTP resource.
Within the monitoring section, you can define your how often the resource is checked, when you want to be notified, how often you want to be notified, and to define a maximum time frame for which you want to be notified. There is also an option here to tell Overseer to notify you if the resource recovers.
Click on the "Notifications" icon on the right hand side to bring up additional configuration options for the HTTP resource.
The "Notifications" section allows you to enable or disable resources which should be alerted should the resource go down.
