• Host: This is the host to connect to. This can be an IP address or a host name.
  • TCP Port #: This is the TCP Port number that Overseer connects to. This is 22 for SSH, 25 for SMTP, 110 for POP3, etc. You can typically find the port number for the protocol you need to monitor with a simple google search.
  • Fail If - Host does not connect: This means that Overseer must receive a response to the TCP request. If not, the resource check fails.
  • Fail If - Response does not contain text: This means that Overseer must receive a response to the TCP request, and the response must contain the specified text. The text is checked case insensitively.
  • Response Timeout: This is the time Overseer should wait to receive a response once connected to the TCP port. Most servers should respond fairly quickly-- and a server that responds slowly such as this could be a sign of high server load or another problem.
